We are very excited to welcome Elba Iris Pérez to the shop to launch her new book, The Things We Didn't Know. Elba will appear in conversation with Jasminne Mendez.

If you are not feeling well, we encourage you to remain at home and we will get your book signed for you. If you need a surgical mask, we have them on hand if you find yourself without one.

In order to go through the signing line and meet Elba for book personalization, please purchase The Things We Didn't Know from Blue Willow Bookshop. At the time of your purchase, we will issue a signing line ticket that indicates your place in line. Your book and signing line ticket can be picked up at the event.

If you cannot attend the event or you live out of town and would like a copy of the book, please indicate any personalization requests in the comments section when you check out.

About the Author:

Elba Iris Pérez is from Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, spent her early childhood in Woronoco, Massachusetts, taught theater and history at the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo, and now lives in Houston. She is also the author of El teatro como bandera, a history of street theater in Puerto Rico.

Jasminne Mendez is a best-selling Dominican-American poet, translator, playwright, audio book narrator and award winning author of several books for children and adults. Including the middle grade novel in verse Aniana del Mar Jumps In (Dial) which was released to four starred reviews. Her other books have received prizes from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Writer’s League of Texas and the International Latino Book Awards. She is an MFA graduate of the creative writing program at the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University and a University of Houston alumni. She is the Program Director for the literary arts non-profit Tintero Projects and she lives and works in Houston, TX.

Ordering:

Payment type must be "CreditCard." Shipping will be charged if you want the book shipped to you. If you'd prefer to use our curbside pickup program, we ask that you please collect your book(s) within one month of the event date. After that date, your book will be donated to a Houston-based literacy organization.

International shipping can run from $25-50US in addition to the cost of the book and can take up to 3 months to reach its destination. Additionally, we can only ship to certain regions and countries. This purchase will include a shipping charge of $50US and if the charge is less than that, we will refund the difference when we ship your book.
