We are very excited to welcome Mike Hixenbaugh to discuss and sign his new book, They Came for the Schools. Mike will appear in conversation with shop owner Valerie Koehler.

Event Guidelines:

In order to go through the signing line and meet Mike Hixenbaugh for book personalization, please purchase They Came for the Schools from Blue Willow Bookshop. Since quantities are limited, we recommend purchasing your book ahead of time to ensure that you receive a copy. Your book can be picked up at the event.

If you cannot attend the event or you live out of town and would like a signed copy of the book, please indicate any personalization requests in the “comments” section when you check out.

If you are not feeling well, we encourage you to remain at home and we will get your book signed for you. If you need a surgical mask, we have them on hand if you find yourself without one.

About the Author:

Mike Hixenbaugh, senior investigative reporter for NBC News, has been named a Pulitzer Prize finalist and won a Peabody Award for his reporting on the battle over race, gender, and sexuality in American classrooms. They Came for the Schools, his first book, is the winner of the prestigious Lukas Work-in-Progress Award. Hixenbaugh’s work at newspapers in Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and Texas has uncovered deadly failures in the U.S. military, abuses in the child welfare system, and safety lapses at major hospitals. He lives in Maryland with his wife and four children.

Ordering:

Payment type must be "CreditCard." Shipping will be charged if you want the book shipped to you. If you'd prefer to use our curbside pickup program, we ask that you please collect your book(s) within one month of the event date. After that date, your book will be donated to a Houston-based literacy organization.

International shipping can run from $25-50US in addition to the cost of the book and can take up to 3 months to reach its destination. Additionally, we can only ship to certain regions and countries. This purchase will include a shipping charge of $50US and if the charge is less than that, we will refund the difference when we ship your book.
