VIRTUAL: Elizabeth Strout | Lucy by the Sea
What:
Random House Studio Sessions is a new event series featuring live conversations with the biggest names on your bookshelf, filmed in our studio and broadcast virtually to wherever you are. These authors will take us behind-the-scenes of their latest releases—and give a peek into their own reading and writing practices, too.
Join us on September 20 at 7 p.m. Central time Random House Studio Sessions: Elizabeth Strout presents Lucy by the Sea, as the Pulitzer Prize–winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Olive Kitteridge, My Name Is Lucy Barton, Oh William!, and more virtually launches her new novel, Lucy by the Sea.
Strout will discuss returning to the beloved characters of Lucy Barton and her ex-husband, William, and why their dynamic continues to be such a rich source of inspiration. Lucy by the Sea follows Lucy and William as they end up stuck together in Maine for several months during lockdown. Rich with empathy and emotion, the novel vividly captures the fear and struggles that come with isolation, as well as the hope, peace, and possibilities that those long, quiet days can inspire. As always with Strout’s novels, you’ll marvel at the power of human connection, and how the author manages to make ordinary moments feel utterly extraordinary.
Your ticket includes admission to this exclusive event and a hardcover copy of Lucy by the Sea. Your purchase of the book is your ticket to the event and we will include signed bookplates while supplies last.
The event will be hosted by Random House via Zoom. You will receive your link to the event the day of the event and we will let you know when books are ready for pick up and/or shipping.
