Blue Willow Bookshop's 25th Anniversary "5 for 25" Program

Blue Willow Bookshop is turning 25!

This little corner of the world has always been a bookstore. In 1973, Musabelle Naut opened Musabelle's Books here at Memorial and Dairy Ashford, back when the intersection was a four-way stop sign and ours was a budding little neighborhood. Musabelle served West Houston with devotion for 23 years.

In October of 1996, Musabelle retired and Valerie and Greg Koehler purchased the store, and renamed it Blue Willow Bookshop. Now we are turning 25, and we want to do something meaningful to celebrate this anniversary.

We've created a special program called "5 for 25." Some of you already know this, but Valerie has a special bond with the communities in Louisiana affected by Hurricane Ida earlier this year. And all of us in Hurricane Harvey's path hold the Cajun Navy in our hearts. So we selected five books that are dear to us, and are asking if you would like to purchase one or more of them for children in these communities. Each of the books was created by an author or illustrator who's been a good friend to the bookshop. If you feel so moved, please join us in helping our neighbors rebuild. You can contribute one book, two, five, ten — each donation will help and be so appreciated.

We're already working with a group in the LaPlace area that is eager to help deliver these books to local kiddos once everything is back up and running. We'll share details of that plan once everything is in place.

It's always been important to us to connect readers and books, and we hope to continue to do that for many years to come. Thank you for helping us celebrate our anniversary. Here's to the next 25 years!

To make a donation to our "5 for 25" Donation Drive, please add the books of your choice to your cart. In your cart, you will be able to adjust the quantity of books you would like to give, in the event that you'd like to give multiple copies. Also, please choose in-store pick up for the titles - we will take care of delivery. Thank you!
