Spring Branch began in 1830 when German farmers settled and opened sawmills to cut timber. The Spring Branch School Society opened in 1856, sponosored by the local St. Peter's United Church. Later, this school society would become what is now Spring Branch Independent School District. Interestingly, Spring Branch was rural yet suburban area in the mid-to-late 20th century, with dirt roads and horses still dominating the traffic. Now, with well over 100,000 citizens residing in the area, Spring Branch is a diverse and lively community.
A bookstore has inhabited this space of West Memorial since the 1970s when the shopping center was built, but Blue Willow itself opened its doors in October 1996. Blue Willow is a neighborhood bookshop with outreach throughout the Houston area, and we welcome you to come browse our shelves for books, games, puzzles, stationery, and more. We consider ourselves a merry band of booksellers with opinionated advice.
From north Spring Branch, take I-10 toward San Antonio and turn left onto Dairy Ashford. Before Memorial Drive, turn left into the parking lot after the high school, where you will see a Wing Stop. We are in the corner of the HEB shopping center.
