Whether you're a Texas native or a recent transplant, please join us to welcome Karen as she discusses and signs Welcome to Utopia, a celebration and examination of the small towns that make up much of our state. In 2006, Karen Valby first traveled to Utopia, TX which is 90 miles west of San Antonia for a writing assignment to feature a small town in America that was untouched by popular culture.  Following that piece, she returned to Utopia to further explore the town’s people—those who are content to remain and those who long to escape—and to understand “small towns” not as mythology but as a place where real people live.
